Uniting a top pick cast of characters with an elite player cast of performing artists was never going to be a successful undertaking, yet author/executive Whedon figures out how to influence it to look simple over the 2+ hour run-time. It would positively profit the watcher to have seen the movies that have prompted The Avengers, particularly Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America: The First Avenger as little time is spent re-presenting the focal figures, as Whedon centers around proceeding with their stories and their self-improvement.
